Autohaus Motorsports Returns to Rolex GT in 2012 with Powerhouse Driver Lineup

Autohaus Motorsports had a breakthrough season in 2011, emerging as a team to be contended with. In an edge of your seat season finale, GM factory driver Jordan Taylor took over the No. 88 Autohaus Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro with a one-lap deficit and drove back into contention for the GT championship.  The team ultimately finished a mere two points from the title that no one would have predicted them a contender for at the beginning of the season.  The team’s success in 2011 helped General Motors claim the Manufacturers Championship for GT and earned tremendous fan support leading to a win for the Rolex Series Moment of the year.

For 2012, the 20 year-old driving sensation Jordan Taylor will return to Autohaus Motorsports to make a run for the Championship that eluded the team’s grasp in 2011. Joining Jordan in the No. 88 Autohaus Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro for the entire 2012 season is Championship winning GM factory driver Paul Edwards.

“I am very excited for the 2012 season,” expressed Jordan. “Autohaus had a very strong season in 2011, and came up just short of the championship. With the addition of Paul to the team, and a year under our belts, we should be well prepared right out of the box in Daytona. It'll be great to have a past GT champion in Paul as a teammate in the Chevy Camaro GT.R. I'm really looking forward to getting the season started.”

Jordan’s new co-driver Paul Edwards is no stranger to the Pratt & Miller chassis and GM powerplant.  Paul began as a GM factory driver in 2004 and was instrumental in the development of the Pontiac GTO.R.  In 2008 Paul co-drove a Pratt & Miller Pontiac GXP.R to the 2008 GT Championship title.  He has posted 12 wins, 13 podiums and over 30 top ten finishes as a GM factory driver in the Rolex Series.  In 2012 Paul is looking forward to adding to those stats.

“I am really excited to be joining Autohaus Motorsports,” said Paul.  “I have not competed in the Camaro yet, but I know the strength of Pratt & Miller and General Motors, and this should be a great season for all of us.  I’m really excited to be driving with Jordan; his success with the team last season was great to watch, and I’m looking forward to sharing the car with him and working together to contend for the championship.”

The 2012 Rolex GT Season will see the continuation of the key partnership between Autohaus Motorsports and General Motors that began last season.

“It is really great to be back with GM this season,” said Robert Kirland, team owner. “Our entire team worked incredibly hard last season to properly represent General Motors, Pratt & Miller and Katech.  We knew we had to prove ourselves to earn the right to be partners again this season, and it is an honor to be one of the two teams General Motors is supporting in the GT class.  I’m proud of everyone on the team, and we can’t wait to make the run for the championship this year.”

The team is preparing to attend the GRAND-AM test at Daytona International Speedway on December 6 and 7th in preparation for running in the 50th Anniversary of the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona.
